iRobot Roomba 520 Cool Gadgets

The fact that the Roomba has only one brush is an index of the biggest difference between him and Navibot Samsung, and even many of the other robot vacuum cleaners. You see, the Roomba does not match his run around a room, but simply obeys a few simple rules by fair means or foul means it must cover the entire floor surface. When the rotor is in is that the rules of a Roomba is a continuation of the wall. With its front and side mounted sensors to monitor Roomba through the walls or barriers to ensure it meets its rotor can do things in the corner and the price all the dirt.

Other rules are spiraling, room crossing and dirt detection. The first of them, as he suggests, that the Roomba is moving in a growing spiral until it hits something. This is the main technique for covering large areas. Hall then made the transition Roomba criss cross the room to make sure it covers the entire room. Finally, the detection of land the Roomba will stop whatever she was doing and spiral around an area he thinks is dirty (eg Paris Hilton – ED).

Robot vacuum cleaners have been around for a while now and a number of companies have given a go. However, as Hoover has come to be a common word for a regular vacuum cleaner, there is a company that had become synonymous with vacuum robot and iRobot is the company. Or more specifically that this product is the Roomba.

Now in its third generation, the Roomba comes in four models, 581, 563, 555 and 520, which differ from the former to be expected and that it comes without virtual walls. The Virtual Wall lighthouses emit an infrared beam and are used to electromagnetically cordon off the area you want the Roomba to work within. The three apparently Roomba can clean four rooms on a single charge and will return to their home stations when you are finished or low on battery. We’re looking at the 520 model today.

Compared to the Samsung SR8855 Navibot Roomba 520 seems much smaller. At 340 x 340 x 90mm it’s actually only 15 mm shorter and narrower than 10 mm, but it certainly seems much weaker. It is also more sensitive decorated with just a creamy white matte finish to most of the body and head in matt silver. This means that it must hide most scratches and dirt better than the shiny plastic of the Navibot. It also has a clean extra that makes a handle that is embedded in the upper part.

Overall build quality seems decent also with two solid rubber wheels pushed very long propel the Roomba, a sound mechanism for cleaning and looking hard plastic usually used everywhere. However, besides its plastic gloss, Navibot Samsung does not seem to be a step up with some heavy rubber running round the edge of the bot more substantial rotor brushes (not to mention the Samsung also has two of these), and a more sophisticated main brush. Also the dock Roomba feels distinctly fragile – not ideal for something that will spend his time sitting on a floor.
