Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X3 is the latest version of a program for editing images for almost 20 years has been the leading consumer alternative to Adobe Photoshop. The latest version changes the name of the famous “Paint Shop Pro Photo” to “Paint Shop Pro Photo” for some reason that probably seemed a good idea of Corel’s marketing department.

Paint Shop has always been regarded as a cheaper alternative to Adobe Photoshop, and in fact its success has been one of the main reasons for Adobe Photoshop Elements launched in 2001. PaintShop Pro is probably the most pirated program ever made, and earlier versions (up to version 9.0) are available for free download from a number of websites. The latest version is available as a canned program with a full printed manual, or as a download own online shop Corel, priced at £ 79 for the full version or £ 59 as an upgrade version 10 or higher. However, if you shop go to Amazon you can find the full version for only £ 65. If this seems a little expensive, keep in mind that the latest version of Adobe Photoshop will cost around 600 pounds, and even Photoshop Elements is about 75 pounds.

The latest version is more than just a cosmetic upgrade. It adds a number of new features and provides significant improvements made to many existing. Among the new additions are more advanced editing tools, including Smart Carver, a new calibration tool that can be used to remove unwanted objects from images while retaining the proportions of the main object intact. It seems to use a detail similar to the detection algorithm revolutionary content Adobe Photoshop Aware scaling feature, but it is not fast enough or as good at keeping the proportions of objects in the image. It is certainly a useful feature, however, and provides a solution somewhat faster laboriously clone-stamping out unwanted details. Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X3 may have a name rather unwieldy, but there is nothing ridiculous about the software. It is well designed and very effective photo editing and organization system that provides home users and amateur photographers 9/10th features of Adobe Photoshop for 1/10th the price, which makes it a good deal at all respects.
